Typology

In yesterdays task we were introduced to typology, which
is a classification according to a general type. So basically
variations on a set theme. Our task is to produce an A1
illustrated A-Z typology poster of vignettes, in portrait
format in a monochrome colour scheme.

A practitioner that is renown for producing vignettes is
Edward Bawden, particularly in a monochromatic style by
             using screen print.

'Play With Me'

Feeling Fit

We are to produce 260 drawings on ten themes by next week,
so yesterday I started on my first alphabet based on things
I'd like to do in my life.

We were advise to draw 'scamps', which are rough thumb
nail drawing to help develop ideas. In my scamps, I
drew little cartoon versions of myself fulfilling
activities I want to do in the future, such as meeting
the queen, learning to juggle, going in a hot air
                balloon etc.

Looking back I wish I'd have drawn multiple scamps for
each letter to explore and exhaust my ideas through
thoroughly stretching my imagination. This is something
that I will take on board for future development in this
                project.

Great Modern Artist- Andy Tuohy

Minimals- Daniel Bennett

I looked at some reference material to help me with this
brief, and I came across two posters that I admired.
The first, 'Great Modern Artists' by Andy Tuohy is a
clever collaboration of influential artists depicted in
individual styles that represent their own, but also
                within Tuohy's personal,digital style.

Similarly with 'Minimals' by Daniel Bennett, he gives an
indication to the style in which he is presenting a more
mature animal alphabet in a graphic, minimalistic style,
as opposed to any other generic animal alphabet poster
that would usually be designed to appeal to children.
