Group Crit

Self-Reflection/Evaluation

My natural reaction to group crit's always goes along the lines of 'oh my goodness, I have hardly done any work in comparison to anybody else, I am going to fail'...which is extremely self- destructive and unhelpful. But my group did point out some positives in my work which I can capitalise on.

What I think works well
  • I have good research and a lot to work from
  • Effective ink, and fineliner drawings
  • Drawing from Awakenings
How could I capitalise on these?

JUST DRAW!!! Draw, draw, draw, more drawings.

What could be improved/ how will I benefit?

Visual recording and experimentation- I will benefit from this because through making marks and recording my understandings in a visual manor I will decide which methods, materials and processes will produce the most effective results.

What could I do differently next time/what would I achieve?

Next time I will make the effort to draw and record more frequently as I research. This way I would have responded immediately with the first things that come to mind when I find out something new and interesting about Oliver Sacks and I could express this visually, which would enable me to achieve a more effective and larger body of work.

What have I learnt from this brief so far?

As an illustrator it is important not to put ALL of your efforts into finding things and writing them down, it is important to go above and beyond this and express the things you learn and discover.
