Work Made

Evaluation of Outcomes

This week I put a lot more time into the task as opposed to leaving it to the last minute. However, my enthusiasm with the theme 'olympic games' is beginning to dwindle a little, which might be a little obvious in my work. Every week when we view each others sketchbooks in the studio session, I feel like mine completely sucks compared to most other peoples. I want my work to be the one that people point at and say 'I like that', rather than probably thinking 'ooh thats a bit rushed'.

Visual Research- Little improvement from last week, I studied a wider variety of images as opposed to just people within the olympics. This included buildings, logos and different motifs relating to the games.

Problem Analysis- Responding to the brief of 'working with shape', somehow I don't think I have communicated that clearly in every image. Rather than using block shapes I have unintentionally used line in some places...

Visual Variation- I made the effort to try out new techniques in my work this week, like paper cuts, and using gouache paint and other materials like oil pastel.

Professionalism and Presentation- I feel like I need to let go and stop being a neat freak about my work. Its too careful and clean cut, which restricts the amount of experimentation I have carried out to the viewer.

Challenge for the next task:

We have three weeks for the next task, which is no excuse for rushing at the last minute. I am going to invest even more time into my work so that I am completely satisfied with it, and feel like I've done the best I can. In terms of my theme becoming drab, I am going to try and take a different approach with it, look for hidden themes, play things up and exaggerate things and turn it on its head. This way my work will become more aesthetically interesting, playful and dynamic.
