Persons of Note- Poster Experimentation

Knowledge and Understanding

To gain an insight to the feeling that flying brings, I asked a few people how they would feel if they could fly in one word. I also searched the internet for quotes relating to flying; the results from both gave me the idea that the act of flying is extremely liberating, daring and powerful.

A powerful way of getting across this message would be to use just one word, I chose 'limitless', because having the drive and equipment to fly anywhere you wish to is completely unlimited.

Rough Sketches

I had a clear idea of the arrangement of my poster from the previous crit. Making the plane small in comparison to the background represents the idea of the inhibition to explore the vast skies of the world.

Practical Skills

Using Illustrator, I made a first draft of the poster. From the last brief I have grasped the concept of using vectors and feel more confident using them in my work.

Setbacks

In hindsight, I think I probably spent a little too long paying close attention to detail of the plane, when it is such a small element on the poster, although this will hopefully increase the quality of the whole image.

The Final Image

Reflection

Although I put time and care into producing this image, in the progression of the brief it is only a starting point in which I hope to develop. When coming up with designs for the postcards and stamps I will aim to have a stronger colour scheme in which I can apply to this poster, along with feedback from peers that will guide me to refine and perfect the poster to a higher standard.
