Monoprint and Lino Workshops

Mono-Prints

Things I found interesting:
  • Working with texture e.g. mesh material
  • Having more confidence to work with stencils and be more experimentive
  • Using different tools to create more diverse line texture
  • Realising that the print comes out backwards!
Things I found difficult:
  • I had a go at making a two-tone print by removing the stencils and placing them on the original print again; but this didn't work out too well. Maybe it would work better next time if I used two different colours.
Lino Prints

(I did have another print but it seems to have gone missing!)

Things I found interesting:

  • Using the lino print on different backgrounds; I printed onto my failed two-tone mono print and the outcome looks really effective, although I accidentally printed upside down...
  • The actual process of lino cutting and the different tools you can use to vary the line density
Things I found difficult:
  • Having to flip the letters over so that they do not print backwards
  • Line precision; especially when cutting out something so intricate. I have always struggled with working out the positive and negative modes of print too, but I learnt today that the areas cut away will be negative (same colour as stock)
