Manchester Critical Incident

Key Transferrable Skills- Evaluation

When discussing my progress so far with my tutor, I realised that there are some major differences between the two postcards I have produced so far.

Bristol

Manchester

Practical Development

It is really evident that the Bristol postcard is a lot more technically and visually advanced than the Manchester postcard; partly because my skills on illustrator are developing the more I practise and partly because the elements of the Bristol image work well together by being more significant and closely linked, as well as not being made from scratch.

Noticeable Manchester Faults
  • The chimneys look really lonely, not easily distinctable that they have a connection with LS Lowry paintings.
  • The bee is a problem in general. Arms are too thin and blend in with the boat, football boots are in too much detail and the overall character looks really basic.
  • No distinctive sense of depth- the image just doesn't work well in general.
I came to the conclusion that I really need to re-do this postcard as I am really unhappy with it and feel like it looks completely dysfunctional in comparison with Bristol.
